Main attraction from TACACORI EcoLodge, the volcano Poas is the most visited and the most the approachable of the volcanoes of Costa Rica. A magnificent panoramic road crosses fields of coffee, horticultural gardens and pastures up to the summit. From the parking lot, a road leads in 5 mn to one of the biggest active craters of the world.
From the terrace, you will have an amazing view on the crater (the caldera) of 300 m of depth and 1, 6 km in width where sulphurous fumes escape. It contains a turquoise blue acid lake and in clear weather the view on the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean is magnificent. The second crater, Botos, is a lake of fresh water surrounded by a cloudy forest.

More than 3.5 kilometers of hiking trails allowing you to observe the local fauna and the flora lead to five magnificent waterfalls. This park also includes a butterfly garden, an observatory of hummingbirds, a serpentarium, a greenhouse of frogs, big cats, traditional " Tica " house, pond of trout and a small garden of orchids.

This combo tour is an excellent way of discovering at one time a real concentrated of Costa Rica. The garden of hummingbirds counts 24 various species of birds, and the space reserved for frogs presents most of the specimens listed in the rainy forest of Central America .

For the last 100 years the Vargas Family, owner of this farm, has been producing one of the most important products of the country, that symbolize the prosperity and development during the last two past centuries.

Every Friday and Saturday, Alajuela hosts one of the largest outdoor farmers’ markets in the country at the Plaza Ferias. Here, residents can stock up on flowers, fresh produce, meats and dairy products at incredibly low prices. The entire area is covered, a welcome amenity during the wet season. As big as a warehouse, it was filled from end to end with fresh food, merchandise and, most exciting, row after row of colorful fruits and vegetables. Several stands also sold fresh-cut, colorful flowers; meats and cheeses lined the southern end of the market ;pipa stands offered young coconut as a refreshing drink.
